The Doctor encounters River Song on a colony world during a scheme involving a valuable diamond hidden inside King Hydroflax. River fails to recognise the DoctorΓÇÖs new face and treats him as a stranger. Their adventure leads to a spaceship filled with RiverΓÇÖs former husbands. When she finally realises his identity, they share a heartfelt reunion. The Doctor takes her to Darillium, where they spend their final night together before her known fate.
The Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, meets River Song on a remote colony world where she does not recognize him.
This takes place at a point in RiverΓÇÖs timeline before she fully knows the Twelfth Doctor, creating a comedic and emotional mismatch.
River has been hired by the cyborg king Hydroflax to perform a dangerous operation involving a powerful brain contained in a diamond casing.
Their relationship is playful and romantic, with the Doctor trying to keep his identity hidden while River gradually pieces it together.
The episode explores love, time travel, identity, and the bittersweet nature of the Doctor and RiverΓÇÖs relationship.
