The Doctor and Clara reunite at a remote Arctic base where a group of scientists are attacked by dream invading creatures. Joined by Santa Claus, they discover the aliens trap victims in layered dreams before consuming them. Reality becomes increasingly uncertain as each apparent escape is revealed to be another dream. Eventually, the Doctor and Clara wake on Earth, older and changed, before the dream state resets. They choose to continue travelling together, reaffirming their bond.
The Doctor and Clara reunite during a strange Christmas event involving dream like states and alien creatures that attack people while they sleep.
Nick Frost appears as a version of Santa Claus, adding a playful and mysterious element to the story.
